Importance of Pet Tags

For many pet owners, animals are considered members of the family. They are cared for and loved in good times and in bad. One of the most significant things a pet owner can do for their pet is to ensure that their pet always wears a pet collar with an ID tag. There are many ways in which a dog or cat can get out of the home, and so a pet owner should always be ready for this emergency situation.

According to the New York Times, although 80% of pet owners believe that tags are relevant, only 1/3 of people have their pets always wearing tags. There is a great deal of anecdotal evidence that suggest tags work. For instance, Willow, a calico cat, was living in Colorado and it some how ended up in NYC. The cat's ID chip helped the cat find its way home. Willow spent five years in New York, and some say she would have been home sooner if she had an id tag as well as a microchip. Dr. Emily Weiss claims that ID cards help lost animals find their way back quicker than implanted chips.

If you are producing and selling wholesale dog collars, you want to ensure that your collar has easily accessible space for dog and cat tags. Having this space will keep the animal more comfortable while also encouraging pet owners to keep on tags.
